I checked the light bulb box and I saw it's 4000K so no wonder it was so white, I didn't know about this scale until I've googled it just a few minutes ago. I changed back to a incandescent light bulb for now under the 3000K.
So after getting some info over the net I have a few questions I'd love to have solved. First of all I already know fluorescent is bad for painting and colour, the reason I've added it in the title it's because at first I wasn't sure if the light bulb I used was fluorescent or not, since it was really white and you couldn't see inside, so I googled for "LED light bulb inside" and this is what I found: www.ledsmagazin...
Which is probably what mine looks like from the inside. So I guess this isn't the same principle as fluorescent lights at work, so does a LED light bulb damage figure/tapestry painting? Also, be it incandescent or LED, does moving closer to the white, such as 5000k, has any negative effect as well on painting while something like 2700k would barely have any impact over time? Or this isn't a factor and the only thing that matters is the principle behind the lighting (LED, incandescent, fluorescent).
As far as I know the thing making colours fade is UV rays, but I don't know whether the factors stated before (more or les K) both or only the principle behind the light source is what produce these, I guess it's the latter but I leave it to you guys since this is as far as my knowledge on the matter goes!
Edit: Also, this is out of curiosity to understand better the principles, I always wondered about the smarphones flash light. If I turned on my smartphone "lantern mode" which I guess is the same thing than the flash but continous, and put it in front of a new figure for 5, 10 years or any amount of time without interruption, would this have any effect to the painting?
Thanks~
